New Salem Website Devices.

The Town of New Salem’s municipal site is hosted with our partners at Flywheel and designed using the Extra Theme from Elegant Themes as it works well with continual feeds of information which the town was looking for.

Extra comes with Divi Builder modules built specifically for the needs of online publications, in a magazine style layout. These new modules provide a variety of different homepage and category layouts allowing different post feeds for the unique content that each town department will provide.

Municipal WordPress Web Design

Being a Municipal website, the Town of New Salem had some unique requirements for their website. Namely the ability to update the site via email.

This was accomplished using JetPack’s post by email feature which allowed for the simplest method for town admins to update meeting minutes and other announcements to the website without the need to login.

When to Use a Mega Menu

Because the Town has so many departments, boards, offices, and committees, it was important to find a way to easily navigate and find what you needed quickly. This led me to add a mega menu using the Extra theme from Elegant Themes.

Under normal circumstances I would not recommend using a mega menu in your navigation, however, this was a highly requested item from the Town’s administration.

Divi’s Library Tools

Elegant Theme’s Divi and Extra Themes allow for content to be saved to a library and to be fed dynamically to any part of the website.

This means that the contact information for one department that is posted on 2 or 3 pages, can be updated once and that information will be updated across the website. Making it easy to maintain and manage in the long-run.
